1952 Jim Barry took batting practice for Class A Lima, Ohio. (This was the year that Jim "emulated" Chit Beauregard, returning to first base without touching second; "for some reason," the base umpire called him out.) Jim was an All State outfielder for Warren High in 1946 and 1948; due to problems caused by youthful exuberance, he did not play in 1947. (Barry and Beauregard are members of the Athletic Hall of Fame.)
