transpixel 1954 Pat Abbruzzi of the University of Rhode Island was named Rhode Island Athlete of the Year for 1954. The next year, while playing for the Canadian Football League's Montreal Alouettes, he was named both the League's Schenley Player of the Year and the Back of the Year.
