Take Roger to a Baseball Game

M-Card

The M-card was created as a picture for Roger’s 90th Birthday in November 2022. We had his party at Market Street Pub in Warren RI. Most of Roger’s family and friends were invited to attend, including our traveling Cooperstown crew of five regular journeyman.  We had a great day for his birthday just before the holiday season.   Few of us that knew Roger well saw that he was getting weaker and looking more frail.  Shortly after the holiday, Roger found himself in a nursing home with many complications.  Roger passed away on January 27th 2023 and his services were held shortly thereafter.

Gary and Karen Martins created this picture/caricature in a 10×14 frame picture of Roger which we all enjoyed.

I actually had a dream one morning around 4am (as if Roger was talking to me…. He always was up at 4am).   The details of doing this was pretty clear and I called Gary to discuss what we could do.  We knew that our yearly trip to Cooperstown would be the perfect setting to distribute these cards.   Gary and Karen came through to complete this idea-project.  Karen recommended to have a QR code generator on the card.  Brilliant idea for most people to use their phones to scan and go to the website.

We have no cards left to distribute, until next year.  But the M-Card is in Gary’s possession (calling it our Prototype Card) for him to use to take Roger to ball game!   We will track it like the other 15 Cards distributed.  Thanks Gary and Karen for coming through for us!

06/13/23  Gary Martins took the M-Card to Fenway Park to watch Colorado Rockies take on the Red Sox.  Gary also caught a baseball, he was sitting on the first base side.  Thanks for keeping Roger on the move!
