Nick Murgo (Athlete, Class of 2024)

Imagine excelling at 4 different sports during a career!  Nick Murgo is the rare athlete who did it!

Little League Baseball found Nick starring on the Minor League All Stars in 2005 and the Majors All Stars in 2007.  In 2008, he won the eleven/twelve Warren Little League Boys Pitch, Hit and Run.  In 2009, he was the R.I. Champion and New England Runner-Up.

Playing football for the Mt. Hope freshman Division 2 State Runners-Up, he blocked a punt and made a touchdown run.  He earned 2nd All Division Two B  offensive linemen honors in 2011.  The next season Nick received First All Division Two-A Linebacker honors. In 2013, he was awarded 1st All State and 1st All Division Two-A Linebacker.  He was elected to the National Football Foundation Rhode Island Golden Dozen in 2013.

Nick played basketball for the Mt. Hope Freshman State Runners-Up in 2011, and starred for the Middletown Summer League Regular Season and Playoff Champions in 2012.

On the Outdoor Track Team, Nick won 2nd All Eastern Division for the discus and javelin in 2013, and 3rd All Eastern Division for the javelin in 2014.

Capping off his High School career, Nick was nominated the Mt. Hope High Providence Journal Honor Roll Boy, 2014.

Murgo’s college  (Allegheny College 2014 & Washington and Jefferson College 2015-2017) career centered on football where he continued his winning ways.  He was ranked number three among all active players in Division Three football with 396 tackles and ranked number twelve in career tackles across all four divisions of the NCAA in 2017.

Nick was the Providence Gridiron Club’s first recipient of the Club’s Pride of Rhode Island Award, 2018 (given to a former R.I. high school player who goes to a school out of state and by his play, academics and comportment, brings pride to his family, school, and state
