Mt. Hope High School Boys Soccer 1993 (Team Induction, Class of 2024)
This squad didn’t have a very successful regular season and needed a tiebreaker victory over Toll Gate to qualify for the playoffs. There they caught their second wind, edged #1 seed and defending state champs South Kingstown in the double-overtime, two-day quarterfinals, and then downed West Warwick, 2-1, in overtime. In the finals, they avenged two regular season losses to Portsmouth by beating the Patriots, 1-0, on a Paul Vollaro overtime goal.
Warrenites named to the All-State team were Sal Corona, Mark Machado, and Paul Vollaro. Other players coached by Tony Teixeira were Leo Areia, Mark Biancuzzo, Brad Borges, Christian Brown, Eric Desilets, Jay Ferri, Tony Mota, Mike Pereira, John Rego, and Matt Travers.
Sal Corona is an individual member of both the Warren and Bristol Athletic Halls of Fame.
