Charlie Francis, (Contributor Class of  2018)

The award in the contributor category is given to people who are not necessarily athletes but contribute to the athletic experience allowing others to compete and excel. That being said, many contributors were fine athletes in their own right. Charlie Francis fits that bill. He played tackle for the 1955 WHS Hall of Fame football team-the first Warren team to beat Bristol in eighteen years. Charlie also played left field for the 1966-67 Providence Free Lances softball team that captured the Providence title in 1967.

Charlie took up sponsorship of one of the most dominant teams in Bristol County from the late 70s to the late 80s. Under Charlie’s sponsorship Repro-Stat won multiple Warren and Bristol league titles.

His Bristol version of Repro-Stat won the Bristol County Championship in 1977. He also sponsored the Basketball version of Repro-Stat in the Providence Men’s League. That team pulled a triple crown by winning the league in 1981, 1982, and 1983.  Charlie also served as a Little League baseball coach from 1963 to 1966- coaching the Red Sox to the title in 1965. Charlie also coached Midget Football from 1963 to 1967-serving as an assistant and head coach.

Charlie has been a valued member of the Warren Athletic Hall of Fame Committee since 2009.
