ANDREW FRANKEL (Athlete, Class of 2014)
As a ten-year-old Andrew Frankel was named to Little League Baseball’s Ten-Year-Old All Stars. Turning to soccer, he played on a number of outstanding Rhode Island youth teams, including an under-twelve squad that won the state title and finished as National Runners-Up.
Twice Rhode Island’s first team All State goalie while leading La Salle Academy to two State Boys Soccer titles, Andrew participated in the Region One Olympic Development Program from 1997 to 2000.
At various times he was named All New England goalie and served as the goalie on the United States National Boys Soccer team.
At Fairfield University Andrew earned numerous honors: Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) rookie of the week; All MAAC first team (twice); MAAC defensive player of the week (six times in his senior season); and three-time All-Academic MAAC.
He starred as the goalie for the Stags’ Undefeated Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Champions of 2005.
Drafted by the Baltimore Blast, he played in the Major League Indoor Soccer League. Later he served as the Assistant Goalkeeper Coach for Columbia University.
