>BRUCE HUTCHISON (Athlete, Class of 1999)

Bruce Hutchison’s schoolboy wrestling record was seventy-two wins, one loss, and one tie.  He was named All State three times and capped his Warren High School career by being named All American.

In 1979 Bruce was a freshman wrestling at ninety-eight pounds; he was named All Suburban East.  The following year he moved up to one hundred and twelve pounds and won both All Suburban East and All State honors.

In his junior year of 1981 Bruce won the State Wrestling Championship at one hundred and twenty-six pounds.  He was honored as All Suburban East, All State, and All New England.  During that same year he won the New England American Amateur Union Advanced title in his weight class.

1982 saw him win All Suburban East, All State, and All New England honors at one hundred and forty-five pounds, while capturing the Rhode Island and New England Championships.  Having also won the Gorarian Award for the most pins in the least time at the state tournament, Bruce was named an All American USA wrestler.

Between 1975 and 1992 he captured many titles, including Rhode Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, and New Hampshire freestyle, New England Greco Roman, and New England freestyle.
