GREG CIRILLO (Athlete, Class of 2015)
As a youngster Greg Cirillo played on Little League Baseball All Star teams that twice captured second place in District Two, was a member of soccer squads that finished as high as fifth in the United States, and participated in the Olympic Development Program.
Greg starred for four La Salle Academy soccer teams that won the Division One State Championship, with the undefeated 2003 squad being ranked fourth in the nation. He was named All State in both his junior and senior seasons.
He was also a member of a Rams’ 4×160 relay team that won the Class B Indoor Track title.
As a University of Massachusetts Amherst sophomore, he received the school’s Twelfth Man Award. And two years later he was a starting midfielder on the 2007 men’s soccer team that won the Atlantic-10 Tourney title by downing Dayton, defending champion University of Rhode Island, and Charlotte.
In that campaign’s NCAA Champions Cup tourney the Minutemen defeated Boston University, Boston College (the #1 seed in the country), Central Connecticut, and Illinois Chicago before falling to Ohio State in the national semi-finals. Greg notched assists on both goals in the quarter-final edging of Illinois Chicago.
Since 2009 he has been the Boys Soccer Assistant Head Coach at Mt. Hope High School.
