JUSTIN S. “HACK” HACKLEY (Athlete, Class of 2002)
While at Warren High School, Justin Hackley earned All Class honors in baseball (he hit .415 in 1992), basketball (scoring more than one thousand points), and football.
In 1990 and 1991 he was a member of the Alegria’s/East Bay American Legion Baseball team that won regular season district or state championships before losing in the playoffs.
He became the co-holder of the Warren High boys basketball individual game scoring record (with Mike Delekta) when he netted forty-three points against Central Falls High School during the 1991-1992 season.
Moving on to Salve Regina University, Justin played on championship baseball, basketball, and football teams, competing in both New England and National Championship competition. Among the honors he received were: Academic All American in baseball and football; Commonwealth Coast Conference Rookie of the Year in baseball and basketball; that conference’s Basketball Player of the Year; All New England Division Three Baseball; and All Eastern Collegiate Football. He was named Salve Regina’s Male Athlete of the Year in the 1994 school season.
Among his Salve career records that still stood as of 2002 were basketball points, free throws, rebounds, and scoring average and football receptions, touchdown receptions, and yards receiving. In baseball his seasonal hits, runs, and innings pitched are still at the top of the record book.
In the Warren Basketball League Justin was a member of the 1994 Champions Steve’s Auto and the Scott’s Landscaping team that won the 2001 playoffs.
He was also named a Fall River Flag Football League All Star after his 2000 Warren Warriors won the league championship.
In 2009 Justin was inducted into the Salve Regina University Athletic Hall of Fame.
