KEVIN M. FERIAS (Contributor, Class of 2017)
Kevin began his dedication as a contributor 16 years ago when he volunteered his skills as a video producer, documenting Warren/Swansea Pop Warner Football and the cheerleaders run to a national championship in Florida.
Around that same time, he got involved with Little League Baseball. He served as a team and all-star coach, board member, equipment manager, web site manager, vice president and eventually president. He brought the little league program into the 21st century with addition of a website and developed a new fundraising program that raised close to $90,000.00 during his tenure. He worked with local businesses, raising money to fund improvements to local playing fields including; batting cages, electronic score boards, and equipment. Most noteworthy was an $18,000.00 rebuild of the Burr’s Hill Park diamond. Kevin totally redesigned the Opening Day ceremonies for Little League, bringing back the fun and excitement to the league’s marquis day. Kevin continued to volunteer even after his son grew out of the program.
In 2014, Warren Little League instituted the Kevin M. Farias Distinguished Volunteer Award- fittingly, naming Kevin as its first recipient.
Sixteen years ago, Kevin attended his first Hall of Fame banquet. The Hall of Fame started videotaping banquets in its first year-using volunteer videographers. While at his first banquet, Kevin decided to offer his professional skills to the Hall of Fame. In the years since, Kevin has turned the banquet video into a video production worthy of the event that it is documenting. Since Kevin started producing the banquet videos, each inductee has received a cherished memento of their special night that can be shared with family, friends, children, grandchildren, and beyond. He also designs the banquet program each year and gets it printed-free of charge.
Kevin continues to volunteer at Mt. Hope High School and Kickimuit Middle School, offering classes in video production and donating equipment as well as time.
