NUNO NEVES  (Athlete, Class of 2006)

At the Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI), Nuno Neves was the men’s soccer team’s captain and Most Valuable Player in both 1983 and 1984.  In the process he was named to the Junior College All American and All Region 21 New England squads.

As a result of these accomplishments, he was honored by being named CCRI’s Outstanding Male Athlete for the school year of 1984-1985.

Nuno played semiprofessional soccer with the Rhode Island Sharks, the Warren Soccer Club, and the Lowell, Massachusetts team, helping the latter squad to three championships in a row.

From 1991 to 1998 he was CCRI’s men’s soccer assistant coach.  And in 1998 he coached the Rhode Island Under-14 Premiere team to Eastern Regional and Virginia Open tournament titles.
