STEVE CLARK (Athlete, Class of 2002)

Steve Clark captured the International Canoe World Championship in 1984 and then waited eighteen years to win it again in 2002.

In the interim he wasn’t resting on his laurels.  In the seven World Championships held during that period, he not only won twice, but also finished as the event’s runner-up four times.

Closer to home Steve nabbed the International Canoe title in the 1986 Save the Bay Frostbite Regatta and finished first in International Racing at the 1993 Rhode Island International Sailing Association Regatta.

And back overseas, having won the Toshiba Unlimited Catamaran Regatta in late 1995, he traveled to Australia and won the Little America’s Cup, defeating the long-time champion from Down Under in four straight races.  To put the icing on the cake Steve and his design team had designed the winning boat, “Cogito Project”.

In 2004 Steve and his partner captured the International Class C Catamaran Championships.
